I was planning to share two finished knitting projects today but wasn’t able to add the final touches to them over the weekend as planned. So today I just want to write a very quick post to say thank you to all of you…
My post on Monday was grumpy and pessimistic and so many of you were ready with kind and encouraging words that propelled me through my day. Our return to homeschooling this week was wonderful. We used to use candles everyday in our homeschool and then randomly stopped – it was so nice to bring them back out. And the kids independently started practicing a mindfulness activity we used to do with candles, and that was a wonderful thing to witness.
Our afternoon tea time was full of poetry, Norse mythology, and a in-depth discussion about all the ways the upcoming Minecraft movie is going to be a disappointment to true fans. My take is that it has Jack Black and Jason Momoa in it, so it won’t be all bad.

And then yesterday both Colton and I woke up feeling a little funny. He had a 101.4 fever and I had a sore throat. Within an hour of checking his temp, his fever disappeared and he was back to his old rambunctious self. He stayed home all day yesterday just to make sure something more serious wasn’t brewing (it didn’t seem to be), and we had our typical morning of school but skipped the afternoon tea and poetry time given how chaotic things can be with all three of them.
I expect that Colton will be headed back to school this morning and my throat seems to be recovered, so I’m looking forward to a full day of learning at home with Bryce and Bronwyn. We skipped our weekly trip to the library yesterday because I didn’t want to take Colton out if he was contagious, so perhaps we’ll be able to go this afternoon?
Also: look at the progress on my Cloudesley sweater! I now have about 8 inches done on the body! It feels good to be making knitting progress.
This post got ramblier than I expected but I again just want to say thank you for your help on Monday. It was a good reminder that the transition from vacation is hard for all of us, no matter how different our situations might be.
I hope you find some time for the things you love today. Take good care.

Transitions are difficult. I have been home for nearly three days after nearly a week away and it has taken all of that for me to unpack and get some normalcy back in our lives. And, there is just the two of us! I admire your work with homeschooling and with your knitting. Thanks for sharing.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the fever and sore throat were just random blips and you’re both completely healthy now. I know that I say it a lot to you, but I think you do amazingly well with homeschooling and being flexible so that you can pivot when you need to, as you did with Colton home. I hope today is back to (more) normal and you get in your library trip!

I always fund it difficult to get back in the groove after vacation. Glad you are finding your groove. Also, glad you and Colton weren’t sick for long.

Thanks, Laurie! I’m also happy the illnesses seem to have vanished (for now)!

In a world that beats us all down every day, it is nice to be part of a community that lifts each other up.
Isn’t it nice to ease back into a routine that is familiar? And isn’t it even nicer to change things up when needs must? I feel those two things are HUGE boons for your week!!
I hope everyone stays well and the remainder of your week is wonderful! XO

Fall is the time for sore throats, apparently! I hope yours continues to stay away. And yes, transitions are SO hard. Sounds like you all made the most of it. I didn’t even know there was a Minecraft movie coming out! If my son was a bit younger I’m sure I would know that tidbit, LOL. He stills plays it sometimes.

Thank you, Laila. And it’s all Minecraft, all the time around here lately. Just a few weeks ago it was all Mario. Interests shift quickly for everyone in this house! Enjoy your weekend!
