Stitching Update | June 2023

Happy Friday! The weather around here has been cloudy and cool – pretty much perfect for me. Thank you all for the concerns about the air quality and wildfires, but I’m happy to report that our air is nothing like what’s happening around NYC this week. We had the tiniest amount of haze earlier this week, but that’s it.

I was planning to write a crafty update for today and, despite such little progress, I guess I’ll stick with that plan. I’ve only managed a tiny amount of stitching since my last update in May and I was hoping for a flurry of knitting this week thanks to my massive audiobook, but that hasn’t happened. You might recall from last summer how much havoc the longer days create for Colton’s sleep schedule, so my evening and early morning time has been almost completely focused elsewhere (I won’t even go into the mischievous behavior I’m combatting at every turn!). The good thing is that I expected this to happen this year and have emotionally prepared myself! Long story short – I never got a chance to try on my project to check the fit, but that’s okay.

Nevertheless, I am still committed to finishing my Junction sweater no matter how long it takes me. I can say with certainty that it’s smaller than my last version because I had already filled my needle cord with stitches at this point and I still some room right now. I managed the third yoke increase this week, so I have one more brioche section and one more increase before I switch to the main stitch pattern and finish the yoke. I’m alternative skeins for the main color because I have two different dyelots and I don’t want it to be TOO obvious in my finished garment!

I have pressed my luck far enough this morning! Colton came downstairs at 3:30 this morning and I have been trying to write with him at my side and it hasn’t been going too well. I will stop here! I plan to be back on Monday with an update but am unsure how my early morning time will shake out this weekend, so I might not have anything ready. Regardless – I hope the weekend is full of exactly what you need. Take good care!

    1. Thanks so much, Vera! I am playing catch up with my comments and your kind words were meant for TWO weekends ago… but I did finally get a little rest this past weekend!! 🙂

  1. 3:30?! I’m not sure whether I’m more shocked that he was up at that hour or that you were already up! I hope you’re both able to get some rest this weekend. The sweater is looking good and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the fit is much better!

  2. Mischief and shenanigans – I know you will figure out how to move through this season. Hope your weekend will include some nap time for somebody 😉

  3. I’m so glad your skies have been relatively clear! and wow, your sweater is coming along beautifully – I’m betting you’ll be separating the sleeves soon. and just one more week before the days start getting shorter … good luck!!

    1. And I’m getting closer to separating for the sleeves. I’m looking forward to that point! And I’m counting down the days until they start shortening. I feel like a jerk about it, but I’m looking forward to the shorter days!!
