Happy Wednesday! Today I’m linking up with Kat at As Kat Knits to share what I’m reading and knitting lately. I’m also linking up with Sam at Taking on a World of Words for WWW Wednesday. The WWW stands for:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
I love these link ups! They keep me motivated and honest about my plan for the upcoming week and connect me with people, far and wide, with similar interests.
Reading
Last week I finished Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. I stand by my previous description of this as a drugged up Harry Potter; it was awesome! I don’t read a ton of fantasy, but this was the best adult fantasy that I’ve ever read. It had so much of what I love – college campuses, dorm rooms, enchanted libraries, ghosts… seriously, Bardugo wove it all in. This was such an escape from reality and I’m now interested in checking out Bardugo’s YA series to see if they are similar.
I’m just over halfway through Code Name Helene by Ariel Lawhon and am loving this one too! The main character, Nancy, is so cool. Her armor is her red lipstick, she is unabashedly feminine, and is top notch in a war zone. Nancy is so complex and interesting and I can’t get enough. And remember when I said that the sex scenes in Plainsong made me cringe? Well, they are fire in this novel (!). This novel will be published in March 2020.
I can’t decide what to read next!! I’ve had the Fountains of Silence out from the library for weeks without starting it, I have the Manor House Murder from Netgalley and need to review it, and I’ve eyed The Starless Sea on my library’s bookshelf the last few times I’ve went in. I think I’ll start The Manor House Murder next so that I can wrap up the books from Netgalley that I’ve gotten this year and then dive into one of the other chunksters. So many books!!!
Knitting

I still haven’t finished my So Faded Pint Sized! But I did finish the hem and have moved on to one of the sleeves, so I’m making pint sized progress. This is the same picture from last week, just to jog your memories. I’m hoping that I’ll get motivated this week and fly through those sleeves! But in reality, I think my evenings are going to be spent curled up with Code Name Helene and a hot cup of tea, which is also wonderful.
Be sure to say hello so that I can make sure to visit your post today, too! I can’t wait to see what everyone is reading and knitting this week. And if you have any suggestions about what I should read next, please say so!
That description of Ninth House makes me so much more excited to get to it! But I should really read Crooked Kingdom first ha-ha. Hope you enjoy whatever you end up picking up next 🙂

I was on the fence about reading the Ninth House, but your review has pushed me off and I am off to see if my library has it available! Thank you so much for joining us today!

A “drugged up Harry Potter” sure does sound like an interesting description of a book. xD I can’t wait to get my hands on it and find out for myself. The Starless Sea is on my TBR, and I look forward to seeing what you think of it! Happy reading.

You have many good choices for reading. A cup of tea and a book is a great way to while away the hours or minutes. I love the little sweater. Pint sized progress is good progress.
