Unraveled 8.21.19

I’m linking up with Kat at As Kat Knits to share what I’ve been working on lately. It’s been over a month since I’ve sat down to write anything. Of course, I miss it. I still haven’t found a way to work it into my routine, but my oldest starts school next week so I’m hoping that helps.

Sadly, I have read nothing in the last month. Yes: a big, fat nothing. I have no desire to pick up a book, which is weird. I’m hoping that I’m just feeling some summertime excitement because I’ve actually been enjoying the summer lately. I’ve been outside tending the garden a lot (the cover photo is of our sunflowers!), swinging a lot, and hunting for caterpillars. It’s been fun and amazing to only focus on my children and my home. I feel so lucky.

Here’s to finding time for writing and reading in the fall! Even if I don’t read any more books this summer, I’m still having a stellar reading year so I’m not too worried about it.

But I have been knitting and even finishing projects! I finally finished my Reagan Cardigan and have been able to wear it a couple of times thanks to some cool mornings. I’m over the moon for it – it’s crazy cozy and squishy. I’m really happy that I’ll have it this fall.

I also finished a sweater for my teapot. I plan to really up my Hobbit game this fall and a sweater for my teapot is just the ticket. Isn’t it just adorable? I can’t wait until the fall. New Hampshire is the best place to live.

So this has been me lately. I’ve been sinking in to living life around the house and trying to make things as cozy as can be despite the steamy weather. I’m dreaming up fun ideas for next year’s garden, thinking about how to plant a fall garden, deciding where to put up bird feeders before the ground freezes, and finding fun things to do with the kids before the magic of summer ends. I find myself saying “I’m so lucky” all of the time now, so I won’t repeat it in this blog post, but just know that I’m thinking it.

How is your summer going? Have you read anything good that you think might spark a reading frenzy for me?

  1. That sweater! Oh my! You might have pushed me over the edge to cast that on! I love how your’s turned out!

As for reading – hmmm, well I think that Ruth Reichl’s latest is wonderful! Ditto The Nickel Boys – but it is also a heavy topic. I don’t know if you read The River by Peter Heller – it was a quick and riveting read!

    1. Yes – add the sweater to your list! The construction was clever and it’s so yummy.

I did read The River – I think it was the last book I actually finished! Thanks for the other recs – I have The Nickel Boys waiting for me and I’ve heard great things about Ruth Reickl’s newest.
