Mid-August 2024

Things are still poking along over here. We’ve hit a patch of beautiful weather and aren’t sweltering so much, which has made such a difference in our moods. You all know that summer is the hardest season for me, but it’s definitely made sweeter by some of the things I’m sharing in today’s post.

Today is full of pictures that I’ve been collecting in the last couple of weeks and just a few words. This is my best effort to stay in touch right now!

Two more gorgeous dahlias have been snipped

Tomato hornworms have attacked my plants but I’ve defended them well. Here’s my first harvest from earlier this week. I pick a few more every day.

I’ve been doing some slow stitching. My first time using 40-count linen and silk threads. Such a lovely experience! Still working on stitching the perfect x.

I am learning to use Storygraph in more interesting ways and here’s my half-month reading update. I hope the second half of the month inludes more details!

And I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, full of exactly what you need!

    1. I got your email saying that you’d figured out the calendar – hurrah! It’s been a lot of fun. And YES about the cooler weather. Such a relief!

  1. Such beautiful flowers! And I love seeing your tomatoes, I wish I could grow my own food like you’re doing. I learned how to cross stitch during Covid lockdown, but on plastic canvas. Yours is amazing! And that sweater, oh my gosh! That’s so cool! My goodness, you have so many amazing talents! And I, too, suffer in the heat, so I hear ya, bring on the winter!

  2. I have a feeling there’s a lot on Storygraph that I’m not using because I just don’t know it exists — I have to do some more exploring! Your flowers are gorgeous and the tomatoes look wonderful. I hope the weekend brings you plenty of knitting time!

    1. Thanks, Sarah! I’m also hoping for a lot of knitting time. And possibly a trip to my indie bookstore today after work? It’s Bookstore Romance day!

I hope you have a quiet weekend!

    1. Laila – I planted six dahlia tubers and only one produced any buds! The plants themselves are all healthy and beautiful but no buds. Maybe we can both figure it out next year 😉
