This is the state of our maple tree right now. Some light orange at the bottom, a few leaves on the ground (which you can’t see). This time next month will be a different story – and that will be here before we know it! Today is the last day of September, which has been a month of ups and downs for so many of us. So goodbye September. I am very happy to welcome October!
I don’t have a lot to say this Friday. I keep a list of joyful things in my notebook and this week is blank. That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been anything wonderful, just that I haven’t been very good at keeping up my notebook! This is why writing things down helps – it’s so hard to remember the little moments before they’re gone.
And that’s why I’m thankful for this little blog. It keeps me present, reflective, and honed in on what it’s important. Thank you sticking with me through it all.
I’m planning to be back on Monday with my October reading plans. I hope your weekend is full of exactly what you need. Until then – take good care.
I’m glad there have been reasons for joy, even if you didn’t get a chance to write them down! I often find myself smiling when I’m out walking or running at cute dogs, adorable chipmunks, lovely changing leaves, etc., but of course I can’t really make a note of them at the time. I hope you have a lovely, relaxing weekend!

Autumn is arriving here too, some leaves are beginning to yellow and drop, and the red berries make a lovely splash of colour. Good to look for joy where one can. Have a great weekend.

So easy to forget with all the hubbub of life. For me, so much of my joy comes from everyday life—the slant of the autumn sun, a bit of chocolate, chamomile tea with honey. It seems to me that you have a keen appreciation of everyday things, which is why I enjoy your blog so much.

Thank you for your kind words, Laurie. And thank you for reminding me about how lovely the autumn sun is – I love noticing that change!

I’ve tried keeping gratitude journals over the years. It’s hard to always find the time to write in them and I can go long periods of time forgetting to do so. I love going back to them and reading all the things I’ve written over time.

Gratitude journals are wonderful! I have a five year journal that I basically use as a gratitude journal. It’s such a fulfilling practice!

It is so hard to write every day! I’ll go for long stretches and do it and then stop for some reason for weeks at a time. I hope you have a great weekend too, Katie!

Isn’t it funny how that happens??! The good thing is that we can always begin again as soon as we’re ready for it 🙂 Our weekend was wonderful. I hope yours was just what you needed!
