I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to leave last week behind! And still – each Monday morning I try to take a few minutes to think about the week that just ended, pay attention to how I’m using my time, and tinker with my daily routine. Last week was not a good example of how my week typically goes, yet there are still some lessons that I can pull from it.

GREEN | Writing Time
I’m still managing to show up every day to write in my journal (today is day 281 of my streak) and for my blog. I also managed some blogging time late on Monday night, but wasn’t able to recreate that throughout the week. One of the things that I wanted to change in 2021 was to find more time to work on my blog — it’s a good thing I have a whole year to work on that solution!

PURPLE | Blackberry Bluff School
We returned to our homeschooling routine this week and everyone found it difficult to concentrate after Wednesday’s fiasco. I didn’t actually highlight any dedicated homeschooling time on Thursday or Friday, but of course – we did a lot of informal learning. Lots of reading, building, and science experiments especially. And today is a new week for us to get back on course.

PINK | Reading Time
Most of my free time was spent reading this week, which is a good thing!

ORANGE | Healthy Stuff
I continued meditating each morning – just 5 minutes most of the time. But according to Insight Timer, I’m on a 16 day meditation streak and have spent 84 minutes in meditation since using the app. That sounds good, right? I also did 3 sessions of Yoga With Adriene and used the exercise bike 3 times last week. I’m claiming a total success in this category.

BLUE | Outside Time
We spent a bit of time outside this weekend. I really miss last summer when we spent hours and hours at a time outside, but I’m pleased that the kids got to soak up some sunshine. This week will be better! (I say that every week)

YELLOW | Stitching Time
I had two sessions of dedicated stitching time. For some reason, I decided to knit on a sock on Saturday despite all of the other pressing projects I have going. I probably chose the sock because it seemed like a low-stakes option. But last night I returned to my hexies project and am so.close. But I put everything away by 9pm, boiled some water for hot chocolate, and simply ate up All Creatures Great and Small on Masterpiece. It was a lovely evening!

OTHER TRACKING
Water – hey oh! I had a perfect week with water – at least 64 ounces every day last week. The bag of peppermint tea has done the trick!

Weather – Still tracking the weather patterns and high/low temperatures. It was a fairly temperate week when I compare the temperatures with the previous 2 years in my 5 year notebook, so I have no idea why I’m complaining so much about the cold.

Covid Cases – still writing the daily case count for my state in the gray bar at the top. New Hampshire is so tiny so it sort of feels inevitable that we’ll get to a point where everyone will have caught covid before a full vaccination roll out. I know that’s not true and still… it seems like the numbers are quite high every day.

Here’s to a week full of slow news days (that’s wishful thinking!), quiet moments with cups of tea, lots of good books, and plenty of time for stitching!

  2. I saw all those water droplets and cheered! Last week was definitely a difficult one, and I think you did a good job of getting through it in spite of everything. All Creatures Great and Small was lovely and just what I needed last night, especially that adorable calf!

  3. So happy that All Creatures great and small features-set in beautiful North Yorkshire. An early film version – my Dad was an extra-you can’t see him but I hear his laugh. Seems you have made a Good start to the year.

  4. I fear slow news days are just not a thing right now. But I have tempered the news sources I am listening to… I have found NPR to give accurate reporting without any additional hype. So I feel up to date, but not overwhelmed.

I was quite shocked that my week kind of fell apart on Wednesday and never really recovered from there. (Although my spinning time increased exponentially!)

    1. Spinning sounds like the perfect activity to do when one is full of nervous energy like I was last week! I’m glad you had something good to fall back on!

  6. I really like the Insight app for meditation. Mine kept messing up for some reason when it came to keeping track of how many days I meditated. After so many days it would reset for some reason. Oh well. Other than that though, I really like it.

    1. Oh no! I hate to hear that your app stopped keeping track… that’s the whole reason why I decided to use an app rather than just the timer on my phone, which would work just as well!
