It feels like winter is on its way out, which is a surprise to me. Our crocuses are peeking out and the tulips are beginning to shove through the snow. I even spotted the tip of a daffodil, which are usually slow to join us at our house! I’m tempted to shovel the snow out of the way for the snowdrops, but I don’t want to get too excited and then end up disappointed by another dump of snow in a few weeks.
On Fridays I share a few things that I’m loving, but don’t quite warrant a full post. Today’s is especially simple! Just a little something from my Goodreads shelf and some bird pictures, but both are things that have made me unusually excited in the last week or so. I hope you enjoy!

Last week I shared my recent discovery on Goodreads – how to mark a book as abandoned without adding it to your “Read” or “Want to Read” shelves. Since then, I’ve created another shelf – Chapter Books We’ve Read Aloud – to track the chapters books I’ve been reading with my children. I’ve wanted to document these for a while but didn’t want them to count towards my yearly totals, so this shelf is perfect for that! I’m only adding 3-4 books at a time, because who wants their feed flooded with 30+ Magic Treehouse books?!

Can you spot the two woodpeckers on our maple tree? When I snapped this picture, I didn’t realize that there were two in the tree, I was just eyeing the one on the left. When I was showing my husband the picture, I realized that I’d gotten them both!

This is the typical view at our birding window. Please excuse the marker on the wall – these things happen! This is probably the most visited place in our house. Everyone enjoys waiting for the chickadees, finches, and nuthatches to make their appearances in that window feeder.

It’s mud season and the kids love it. Enough said.
How is the late winter weather treating you? Any nice surprises? Or are you still nestled into your home and focused on cozy things inside? I hope you have a great weekend!
Took me awhile to find that second woodpecker, and I LOVE your birding window. And Charlotte’s Web, how wonderful. Such gifts for your kids as they grow.

I was so surprised to get that second woodpecker! I love this window too. We spend most of our time in this room anyway, so it’s fun to have some birds fluttering around it! I LOVE Charlotte’s Web. Bryce and I read it last summer and I’m looking forward to being able to read it to Bronwyn in a few years. I don’t think Colton would be too interested :p

I too missed the second woodpecker at first — you really got lucky with that shot!
Our spring flowers have been poking leaves up for some time, but no flowers yet. I’ve seen plenty of snowdrops around the neighborhood, though! We’re supposed to get a little wintry mix today (I think mostly rain in my area), but I’m pretty confident that we’re done with serious winter.

I hope we’re also done with serious winter! All of my spring flowers are just peeking out of the ground – no petals here yet either. I hope you get some flowers soon!!
