We’ve made it halfway through the month of June and we’re also nearly halfway through 2019! This has been the strangest year for me so far. Full of ups and downs, ins and outs, and feeling stuck and lost. I’ve had to make several difficult decisions but books have helped me through them, as cheesy as that sounds. After I put the kids in their beds, I curl up in my own and escape through a book nearly every night.
Today I’m linking up with Anne Bogel at the Modern Mrs. Darcy to share some of the best books that I’ve read over the last 30 days or so. May and June have been incredible book months for me and I can’t wait to share the highlights with you.

I think you know how much I love WWII novels. This one perfectly depicted a rambunctious six year old and the people doing their best to care for her. And of course, it depicted tragedies from the war.

I read three Louise Penny books over the last 30 days, so the plot lines have started to run together! But this one was creepy and spent most of its time in Three Pines – a clear winner for me!

This is the last of this series that has been published so far – I’m anxiously waiting for August 27th! Despite how serious the subject matter was in this one, it was also so funny. Penny is remarkable.

I had a hard time putting this book down. It follows an extremely wealthy family who began amassing serious amounts of money during WWII thanks to some questionable investments. It explores the privilege of wealth and how easily people can turn a blind eye to the injustices around them.

Yet another that was difficult to put down. The chapters in this book were short – which always encourages me to read “one more.” And then “just one more,” and on and on. It also helps that the chapters were so entertaining!

My second Gretchen Rubin this year so I think she’s growing on me. I read a lot of decluttering books and this was the best that I’ve read in a while. I like how Rubin reminds us that these are all personal decisions and what works for one person might not work for another.

I’m coming to love Dani Shapiro. She’s thoughtful, kind, and has eccentricities that many of us can relate to. Shapiro wrote this book after doing a DNA test and learned that she wasn’t actually related to her father. In Inheritance, she processes those feelings of being unmoored and her exploration of searching for her identity.
I told you it was a good month. I hope I can keep finding such great books to get me through the summer! But how about you? Have you read any of these? Any on your TBR? Any recommendations for me??
I’m glad you’ve had such a good run of books lately! And that you also enjoyed My Sister The Serial Killer. Hope the next 30 days brings just as many good books your way.

I can relate to books helping you through difficult things. So I don’t think it sounds cheesy. My husband and I are on book 8 of the Gamache series. We often get slowed down waiting to get it from our library but I think it helps us not read them too fast.

Yes! Enjoy them while you can! And I think that the 8th is my favorite of the series even though they spend no time in Three Pines. I loved the monastery!
