This Week’s: Knitting | Reading | Music

Hello! Can you believe it is November 15th? We’re halfway through the month and headed into December. How did that happen? It is definitely Stick Season here in New Hampshire; the snow from last week melted quickly and I am anxiously awaiting our next storm. If it’s going to be so dark all of the time, then I want snow on the ground! My energy level seems to be dropping a little more every day and I’m trying hard to find ways to stay steady.

Today I’m checking in with a little update on what’s going on around here: a little knitting, a little reading, and a little music. Let’s catch up a bit!

I am starting Thanksgiving prep today and am hoping to end the day with four pans of cornbread in the freezer. Tomorrow I’ll be mixing up dough for gingerbread and sugar cookies and freezing them. And on and on it goes until next Thursday! But in between those chores and the never ending cleaning list that I’ll be working on, I’m hoping to give two special things a little attention:

My Tessellated Vest continues to soldier on. This picture looks funny – I can’t quite find the center while laying it flat and there are a lot of loose ends, but I’m happy to share that I’ve finished the front and am pretty close to finishing the back. My goal is to finish next week so that it’s ready to be worn on Thanksgiving. I also need to order a button down shirt to wear underneath it. Added to the to-do list. Once this is finished I’ll be swatching for the Totally Tessellated Socks and hope to start the KAL on Wednesday night!

(Also, I finished my latest pair of DRK Everyday Socks last week – that picture is up top.)

I have been completely transported by my current read, The Whalebone Theatre. This is a WWII novel that follows the three Seagrave siblings and their time during the war. I love the estate they grew up on, the descriptions of their distant and slightly neglectful parents, and how they’ve each found their own way to help during the war. I’m just over halfway through it and am hoping to spend some time with it this afternoon. Have you read this one yet?

Listen, I know that Woody Allen is problematic. And still – this is one of my favorite movies ever. Owen Wilson’s character makes me laugh throughout the whole movie; I adore him. The music is picture perfect and I’ve enjoyed bopping around the kitchen to this playlist this week. I hope it hits the spot for someone else!

I have enjoyed staying caught up with all of your blogs but I haven’t been commenting. I am sorry! Thank you all for being so patient with me – as you always are. I will pull myself back together soon and find a way to check in with all of you! I hope you find some time to do something special today. Take good care.

  1. Your socks turned out great Katie and your vest is coming along nicely. I loved Midnight in Paris and that is a great soundtrack 😀

  2. Always a pleasure to read your posts and see your knitting and the books read. I also enjoy thinking about snow, cornbread, and a button-down shirt! Have a great Thanksgiving! Blessings to you.

  3. Your vest is looking great – purple in green is one of the best color combinations, in my opinion! I just read the book Monster which talks about Woody Allen specifically, and in general the issue of liking the art of someone who has done horrible things. Very thought-provoking!

  4. oh your vest is looking great! and you owe ZERO apologies to anyone about any aspect of blogging. The folks who want to read will read no matter when/how you show up, and count me as part of that crowd. ALSO I still have Whalebone Theater on my TBR Shelf … I didn’t put it into my Ten Before the End, but I definitely plan to read it sooner now that I know you’ve read and loved it!

  5. Your vest is looking amazing — I can’t wait to see it modeled (you will share modeled photos with us, right?). As far as I’m concerned, you never have to apologize for not posting or not commenting. You have an incredibly busy life and I love a peek into it whenever you’re able to share, but you have no obligation to!

  6. Your socks look very warm and toasty. I’m glad to read your thoughts on The Whalebone Theatre. I couldn’t quite decide if I wanted to read it or not. Now maybe I will see if I can get it from the library. I’ve been out of town so am just now catching up. Please don’t feel as if you have to comment on my blog. Your time is precious and I’d rather you read a book or spend time making or with with your family. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
