A Friday in March

I am so relieved that it’s Friday. It’s been quite a week and I’m looking forward to Matthew being home this weekend and giving me a little extra help with the kids. I meant to write and publish this post this morning but it was one of those unpredictable ones and the day certainly hasn’t been my own. But I’m taking my chances with a surprising quiet moment and am going to try to share three joyful things in my world.

🐑 A few months ago I submitted a question to Andrea Mowry’s vlog and asked if she had a recommendation for a lanolin rich hand lotion. She suggested several and I decided on the hand balm by Tuft. I got the Mountain Lodge scent (Bourbon Vanilla, Cedarwood, Caramel and Rich Plum) and am in love with it. I apply it about a million times a day to get a quick hit of that delicious scent and I love how it makes my hands feel. Totally worth the money and I can’t wait to see what scents are available when I need to order again.

🐝 I love everything about Katrinkles. I think their work is gorgeous and I love the natural materials they use. I have a set of their bee stitch markers (which might be sold out? But one of them is in my opening picture), their Socks Rule ruler, and a few of their mini tools. This week they released their March stitch markers: hibernating animals. I couldn’t help myself and ordered a set. Look at them! They’re all curled up in their cozy burrows and I am here for it!

🎨 I recently discovered that our local art museum has a lot of storytime and craft videos up on their website and free to the public. It looks like it’s something they did during the pandemic and uploaded to their website and youtube. Bryce, Bronwyn, and I did one yesterday (I Am Enough) and it was a lot of fun – for all three of us! And while I had to do a lot of assisting, it was really nice to not be the teacher and to just sit back and have someone else plan and lead us through the project. Whew!

After I get everyone into bed tonight I am hoping to finally unravel my Junction sweater. I checked the gauge on it and I was really off — despite my swatch telling me otherwise! So I’ll unravel tonight and perhaps do a few different swatches while watching some evening television over the weekend? We’ll see what I manage to get done.

We’re expecting a lot of snow tonight and tomorrow! I am excited about it and am hoping the storm doesn’t underperform. I’m planning to be back on Monday with a roundup of all of the books I read in February and my March plans. I hope your weekend is exactly what you need. Take good care!

  1. Wishing you a good snowfall and a restful weekend. and thank you for the handcream tip – I have something similar in a lavender fragrance … love the product and the packaging, and happy to have something similar to replace it with!

  2. It’s snowing here! It was supposed to start mid-morning but it waited until mid afternoon. It’s really piling up and the roads are icy too judging by the speed of cars on the road. Enjoy your weekend!

  3. I have been using LoLo bars for years — they’re the same sort of product, a solid lotion bar in a tin. I think they’re great. I also like that this company allows you to buy just the refill bar and it comes in fully recyclable packaging.

I hope you can all enjoy a quiet, cozy weekend. Best of luck in your Junction redo!

  4. I hope the snowfall keeps you cozy and warm this weekend. The hand balm sounds wonderful. My skin is so dry I’ll have to look for this brand.
