Whew! I’m not sure if I’m ready to start another week, if I’m honest. Last week was a doozy, wasn’t it? But here I am on a Monday morning, taking just a little bit of time to look at the week that just ended. I’m not going to break down my time like I usually do, so today’s post is going to be very short. This is a simple check in to keep myself (somewhat) on track.

Overall, it was a good week for reading and doing “healthy” things. I’ve continued to journal (today is day 351 of the streak), meditate (86 days in a row), and practice yoga (last night’s practice was the 21st straight day) daily. Those streaks feel really good!
We spent a ton of time outside this week, except for Monday which was super cold. Each morning I write our school plan on the whiteboard and now that I’m including “outside” in the official plan, I’m getting a lot more buy-in on the rest of the morning! Small tweaks yield BIG gains.
The one thing that continues to perplex me is finding time to work on my blog. Now that my morning time is spent on the exercise bike, it’s difficult to find a time to dedicate to my keyboard. So this week I’ll experiment with writing after the kids go to bed. It makes me nervous because I’m always so tired at night, but perhaps a cup of tea will make the whole scenario much more enticing.
Ready or not – it’s time to get started on a new week. May we all have one full of peace and stillness.
Do you have a few minutes here and there to write partial posts? You can tweak it before publishing but that what I do sometimes. I would never write a post at night to publish the next morning, I’m not alert in the evening so who knows what I’d say!

Sorry, I forgot to say have a great week, playing outside with the children is more important than posting!

Thank you, Gretchen! You’re so right that playing outside with the kiddos is more important than writing! And yes – I write almost all of my posts in short chunks of time. Nearly every post I publish was written all throughout the week… today’s post, for example, was mostly written on Sunday evening! And it’s great advice and I’m going to keep thinking about how to steal little moments of time.

Haha, I can relate to your concern, Gretchen 😉 my mind is never sharp enough at night.

Mine either! It’s only 8:30 right now and I’m just aching to crawl into bed!

I always find these times of transition challenging, when it comes to maintaining helpful and healthy, and meaningful practices. It looks like a good week for outdoor time — and here’s hoping the tea helps in the evening — onward!

Thanks, Jordy! I have to keep reminding myself that no rhythm works ALL of the time and it’s okay to change things up every once in a while. And tea is always a good addition to a day 🙂

I switched up my blogging time a couple of years ago. I used to post in the evening, after work, and typically didn’t have much mental or physical energy to do it, so it was often a frustrating effort. At some point I realized that I could do it in the morning before work (sometimes even when I got to work, either before the official start of the work day — because I usually got to the office early — or at the start of the day if it was a quiet day), and it’s been a huge game changer. I’ve also been known to start drafts before I plan to publish a post, particularly if they’re posts that are going to take a while to write. But really I think you need to find a way that works best for you and also not feel guilty if you don’t have as much time as you’d like because you’re busy doing other things. Life is all about balance, and we don’t always have as much time as we’d like for everything we’d like to accomplish. Right now you’re doing a great job of prioritizing your physical and mental health and time with your kids, and those are both worthy ways to spend your time!

I usually write my posts in the evening and schedule them to post in the morning. And I use the draft feature a lot! Yesterday I started three posts because I have pictures I want to blog about so I put in the picture and maybe a word or two. Then I will go back later and write the post. That is one of the things I like about WordPress. Enjoy your week. Your streaks are inspiring.

That’s exactly how I write my posts, too! I love being able to create drafts and just write a few sentences at a time, slowly making my way towards my end goal. And it’s why I love blogging so much 🙂

The outside time is such a boon, isn’t it? Everyone is happier! 🙂 I am cheering your yoga and bike riding! That is just awesome!! As for the blogging… the struggle is real to find some kind of balance with life, reality, and sitting at the computer. (the computer frequently fails, but one thing that has been helping me is that I “rough out” at post in my mind and then I sit down at night and transpose those thoughts to the page, and honestly… it does not take much time at all. The real struggle is getting photos done!)

The sunshine has been amazing. It’s made such a difference in all of our lives, ha! I agree that my posts never take as much time as I think they will and I don’t mean to sound like a complainer. I just wish I could find time to write about things just a little bit deeper. I never seem to get below the surface! So – little by little. Bird by bird. We will get it done 🙂

There is so much here to celebrate! I also struggle finding time for my blog (and some days for my blogging friends) and I’m thinking about what changes I can make to fix that. As Kendra Says: Name What Matters. Start Small. (stay tuned)
