Each Monday morning I spend a few minutes looking over the week that just ended. This gives me an opportunity to examine how I’ve spent my time and think about how those choices serve me. It’s just a quick moment of reflection, a chance to correct my course, and a great way to start the week.

GREEN | Writing
I’ve continued my journal writing streak – today is day 253. It just feels natural to sit down at my desk straightaway and start my morning page, which is a good thing. I don’t even consider doing anything else anymore! I didn’t spend as much time with my blog last week which gave me a nice opportunity to focus on things around the house.

PURPLE | Blackberry Bluff School
We just finished Week 14! The week started out very strong, but became difficult to sustain. That’s okay – we covered all of our basics and it’s amazing to see how much he learns in informal settings in addition to his time at the table with textbooks.

PINK & ORANGE | Reading (pink = physical and kindle books; orange = audiobooks)
I had another excellent reading week. I found myself picking up my kindle during our daily quiet time, which helped to set the tone for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening.

YELLOW | Stitching Time
One side effect of squeezing in more reading is that there is less time for stitching. Audiobooks help of course, but I haven’t yet mastered the skill of reading and knitting at the same time, although I should consider practicing because many of you have that down. But I’m happy with my stitching progress this week, nonetheless.

BLUE | Outside Time
Utter failure. My poor children. Not once. This week will be better.

OTHER GOALS
Water – Still tracking, still using my water bottle, still drinking a lot of coffee instead.

Exercise – Still no yoga. But I did use the bike twice last week despite trying to talk myself out of it each time. I call that a successful week.

OTHER TRACKING
Weather – We had snow and rain and lots of chilly days last week and more of the same is forecasted for this week. I still enjoy recording this in my daily calendar and then copying it over to my 5 year journal each week – it’s going to be so fun to look back on and compare.

Covid Cases – I’m writing those numbers in the top gray bar beside the days of the week. New Hampshire broke another daily record on Friday, just like many states are doing again and again. I’m thankful that the vaccine has started to ship out and that the most vulnerable will be protected soon. I’m not expecting to be vaccinated until spring/summer and that’s totally okay by me.

And that’s my week in a little nutshell! If you’ve recently written a post about your own notebooks, please let me know — I’d love the encouragement and inspiration. I hope you have a great start to your week (Week 51!!??!!)

  1. Outdoor time gets more difficult this time of year, doesn’t it? I am determined to keep up my daily exercise through the winter, but it’s hard to motivate myself when it’s raining or sleeting and windy. I’m going to need to find some good exercise videos on YouTube, I think, or else convince my daughter to have a daily dance party with me when the weather is really bad.

  3. Outdoor time for us in wintery climates does become a challenge, but I love the quote about there being no bad weather, just bad clothing choices! Sherman even has a sweater or two to bundle in!

  4. If I didn’t have a dog to walk, I wouldn’t get outside nearly as much; Holly ensures I get out at least three times a day and I’m grateful for that! These peeks into your (and others’) planner continue to inspire both new habits AND new ways to track them. Thank you!

    1. Dogs are great for that! I’d love a puppy… except I’m always thankful that I DON’T have a dog when winter rolls around, ha. Thanks for your kind words and all of YOUR planner inspiration, Mary!!
