Week 41 In My Notebook | 2024

Tuesday! Friends, I’m publishing today’s post a little late. Yesterday morning didn’t go as planned and I was never able to find a way to fit this blog post into the day, so I’m doing the best I can to make this work.

It was shocking to write Week 41 in today’s title given that I haven’t shared a look in my notebook in the last couple of weeks. 41! We are so close to the end of the year already and I’m typing up lists in Notion to help make these last few weeks feel more manageable. In today’s post, I’m sharing how my big notebook has been evolving lately as well as a (surprise) knitting finish. So let’s catch up just a little bit?

Tools of the trade:

I’ve been experimenting with using a combination of this notebook and the original techo notebook that I’d been journaling in earlier this year. This notebook is evolving towards more of a memory keeper: whatever feels appropriate to jot down throughout the day, plus journaling in the daily pages. I’ve been using my smaller notebook as a more functional planner by writing down to-dos and my exercise plans. Maybe next week I’ll be able to share a picture or two with what that looks like? It’s definitely a messy notebook and changes based the given day, which is the definition of a functional notebook, right?

Anyway, last week was a good one. Thanks to an abundance of audiobooks, I managed to get through several books on my TBR and one that wasn’t (The Viscount Who Loved Me) while doing more knitting than in previous weeks. I’ve made good progress on my Cloudesley sweater and even finished a pair of socks:

I happened to check in an abandoned knitting bag and found this pair nearly complete. One sock needed just about 2″ of the toe and a bind off to be finished. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up, so I finished these up and took the win! They are knit with Ontheround sock yarn in the colorway Narwahl in the I’m So Basic pattern (my Ravelry link). I keep calling this pattern Plain Vanilla, so sorry for the confusion I may have created!

These got finished right in time because this week is forecasted to be downright chilly. I’m here for it!

We are on a scheduled week off from school. Because we go year round, we take a week off every 6-8 weeks or so. It gives me an opportunity to plan for the next round of school, scan in documents to keep their portfolios up to date, and tackle house projects that have been put on the back burner. Our big projects this week include organizing all of the arts and crafts supplies in Bronwyn’s room and cleaning up the desk in Bryce’s room to give him a functional place to draw and write. I’m also trying to clear up some space in both of their rooms to prepare for the onslaught of the holidays, which is always a difficult time for me. So wish me luck!

I hope your week has gotten off to a great start. Take good care!

  1. Those blue socks are so pretty. Wonderful color! Good luck with all your organizing.

Have you ever read Georgette Heyer’s Regency novels? (The viscount novel put me in mind of them.) They are so much fun. Farces, really. And her knowledge of Regency England is mind-boggling. Anyway, sheer entertainment, which we sometimes need.

    1. Thank you, Laurie. I was tickled to find them almost completed! I haven’t read any Georgette Heyer books, can you believe it? Thank you for reminding me about them! And totally agree about the value of sheer entertainment. And the Bridgerton series has that in spades!

    1. Oooh… your notebook idea sounds delightful! I believe that The Papermouse Shop sells individual sheets of Tamoe River paper? but it looks like it’s all sold out right now. Dang it!

  4. Those socks showed up right on time, and I hope they’re keeping your feet toasty! We’ve officially turned on the heat in our house (the lows overnight have been in the low 40s and upper 30s), so I’ve pulled out the wool socks again — and I’m loving it! Best of luck with the cleaning and tidying.

    1. They’re perfect! I still haven’t blocked them but that’s okay 🙂 Our temps are about the same but luckily we’re holding out on the heat for a little longer. It’s days like these when I’m thankful to be a knitter and a (once upon a time) quilter!!

  5. I am fascinated by your notebooks. I wish I had the discipline to write in one every day. It ends up being more like 2-3 times a week, and it’s a real mishmash of stuff. Affirmations, gratitude lists, to do lists, quotations. I’ve pretty much given up a “diary” sort of format. Maybe I just enjoy the idea of the daily notebook more than the actual reality? Maybe just seeing glimpses of yours will satisfy me, LOL.

    1. Thank you! Your notebook sounds perfect for what you need! 2-3 times a week is still a lot more reflection time than the typical person so it’s something to be proud of. And I will be happy to supply glimpses of my notebooks for as long as you need them, ha!

  6. I am so excited to see those tiny book covers!!! aren’t they a FUN way to keep up with what you’re reading?! (and also excited to be reading a post before it’s way too late to comment … sigh.) Hope you’ve had a good week – and all vaxed for the season – and maybe with time for yourself and that todolist instead of school you had planned!

    1. I had been using those book covers in my book journal, but switched back to Notion for that (because it’s so easily searchable). But I still enjoy having the covers to jog my memory about what I’ve been reading!

And yes – we are ALL now totally vaccinated against the flu and covid, so fingers crossed that it works. I have stayed SO busy this week with school prep and cleaning. Not sure if I’ll have the stamina to keep it up today or not? We’ll see! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
