Friday again! This week has flown by thanks to the holiday on Monday. My thoughts are completely consumed with school plans for next year and this post is a result of that!
+ I was thrilled when the new titles for the Dart curriculum were released this week and they were all new to us! I immediately purchased The Beginning Writer’s Bundle and am so excited to get started with this new program this summer!
+ Books for the next school year are arriving nearly every day, thanks to ThriftBooks! I’ll write a blog post outlining all of my choices for the 2021-2022 school year soon.
+ We’re wrapping up our science and history curricula for the year, so our school mornings are getting noticeably shorter. It’s not a bad thing, given how much there is to discover outside! So I’m working in more nature study and am starting to think about implementing The Fairy Tale Project from the Brave Writer curriculum over the summer. It seems like the perfect time to start. And there’s always reading and math to keep us busy!
+ My spiral binder and laminator arrived a few weeks ago. This is more thrilling than I can describe. So I’m busy printing and binding things, which makes my admin heart happy.
+ Truly – the anticipation of a new school year is the best part of this homeschooling adventure. The hard part, of course, is implementation. This first year was all about cultivating the habit of learning – arriving at the table each day, settling in with a stack of books, and allowing our imaginations to run wild. I’m so excited to see what happens next.
I’ll be back on Sunday with a poem. Until then – take good care!
I am excited on your behalf for next year! I think you’ve done some pretty amazing work this year, not least of which is accepting that homeschooling has to have flexibility built in. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s coming your way from ThriftBooks!
(Also, can I just tell you how jealous I am that you have a laminator? When I was a kid, being able to laminate things seemed like the best part of being a teacher.)
