Catching Up!

st croix sunset

Dear Friends,

Sorry for my recent silence.  I’ve had a wonderful and busy couple of weeks.  My last day at my full-time job was on Friday, May 27, and then my husband and I flew away to tropical paradise the next day!  We returned last Thursday and have been cuddling our babies and recovering from being away – which includes, as usual, laundry, dishes, laundry, weeding, mopping, laundry.  You get the picture – mostly a lot of laundry!

Leading up to our trip, I spent a lot of time thinking about my next steps with this little blog.  I’ve had so many blogs throughout the years and nothing really stuck – so I’ve been brainstorming ways to make my blog more manageable and fun!  I always go all in or nothing – I will post every day or not at all.  For now, I will focus on 3 posts a week – which is much more manageable.  I started this blog because I wanted to be a better reader and stronger writer – that doesn’t mean that I have to blog every day to reach those goals!

Another goal that I set is to be more laid back and more genuine in my posts – because this blog is still so new, I feel like I’ve been a bit stilted and have been holding back.  It’s difficult because I only get little spurts of writing time with two babies running around, so I just try to get the basics out and then hit PUBLISH.  My thought is that now that I’m working only part-time, there will be more time to put into this!

And my third goal is to READ MORE!  Later this week I will fill you in on the reading that I did while we were away – it was super incredible – and I hope that I can find a way to replicate that on a smaller scale now that I’m home!

In a nutshell, my three major revised goals:

  • Plan to blog less often, shooting for three times a week.
  • Plan to write more meaningfully.
  • Read as often as possible!

Sounds like paradise, right? 😉

  1. Beautiful pictures! Glad you were able to get away. It is SO GOOD for a marriage to get away and have time together after having kids.

Kudos on revising your goals. Looking forward to reading about your recent reading.

      1. Katie, no worries whatsoever. One only has so much time in a day! I understand. If I wasn’t in front of a computer all day at work I’d comment on people’s blogs much less frequently.

  3. Hi Katie, welcome back from your lovely vacation – I hope the peacefulness lasts for a tad bit longer before ‘real life’ comes back full force 🙂
I completely understand on the blogging goals – I also started out very… inauthentic, I would have called myself – it took a while to find my ‘true voice’ in writing reviews because it seems like I was always trying to follow a format or mimic someone else. I’ll join you in the 3-post a week goal… I also need to get on a more regular schedule.
