A Look Into Our Notebooks | Week 12 of 2021

I hope you all had a great weekend and you’re easing into your week! I spend my Monday morning blogging time thinking about how I used my time the week before. The intention is to ensure I’m using my time wisely, cultivating habits important to me, and being mindful about how quickly moments slip away. Last week was full of good books, which always seems like a good use of time!

GREEN | Writing Time
Today was day 358 of my morning journaling streak (!!). The 1 year mark is inching ever so closer and it’s still a strange thought. I returned to my early morning blogging time last week, instead of hopping on the exercise bike. I decided that this morning time is too precious to give away, even if there are a ton of advantages to exercising so early. I’m glad that I gave it an honest try and did enjoy it, but writing in the morning is a much better fit for me. So I managed to devote time to my blog every day last week!

ORANGE | “Healthy” Stuff
I meditated every day last week and did one yoga session — and that’s it. I haven’t decided how much of a push I’m going to give it this week, which tells me that this category has returned to the back burner!!

PINK | Reading Time
Lots and lots of reading time this week, which was quite lovely. It’s nice to be in the middle of several really good books that keep pulling you back into their worlds!

PURPLE | Blackberry Bluff School
I mentioned on Friday that last week was supposed to be an “off” week for us, but I kept that little fact to myself and kept trucking on. It was a great week of school!

BLUE | Outside Time
It was also a very good week for being outside!! We managed some time outside everyday except for Friday, when there were thunderstorms. I didn’t document time outside on Thursday, but the kids went out with Matthew while I listened to an audiobook and folded laundry, which was a nice little break for me. We stayed outside on Saturday from 9:30-2:30, with a quick break to run out for some lunch, which we brought home and ate at the picnic table. Colton, especially, was over the moon!

YELLOW | Stitching Time
I knitted for the first time in at least a month! I also mentioned this on Friday — I’ve been knitting while watching Doctor Who with Bryce. I am so excited to share my progress with you all on Wednesday.

OTHER TRACKING
+ Water – I had a very poor week for drinking water. My coffee intake has been astronomical.

+ Weather – Still documenting here and in my 5 Year Journal – it’s one of my favorite things to do!

+ Covid Cases – Also documenting here (in the gray bar at the top) and in my 5 year Journal. I’ve gone back into my 5 Year journal and started writing down case counts from last year, starting in March 2020. I’m only doing this for a few minutes each week and I’ve already made it through July, so it hasn’t been a huge undertaking. I say it every week – but it’s going to be an amazing thing to look back on!

I hope you all have a good start to your week and you are able to fill it with the things you love! I’m planning to be back tomorrow with an update on my word of the year. I hope to see you then!

  1. I’m glad to hear you’ve shuffled your schedule in a way that’s working. I’m sure that there will be times when you’ll need to move things around to different times, and that’s okay, too! I know when I do things will have to change a lot when I am no longer working from home (which I’m really hoping is not for a long time yet!).

I’m going to get a little mommish on you now and tell you to do a better job of drinking your water! You’re a busy woman with a lot on your plate, and you do not want to deal with dehydration while you’re trying to juggle all that, especially as the weather gets warmer and you’re outside more.

  2. Spring is such a lovely season for trying out some new things and seeing how it goes. I love how open you are to shuffling things around when they aren’t quite working and trying something new. I finished a journal this morning and put a new one into my folio for tomorrow. This is a practice that I sometimes re-work, but I always come back to. Welcome to the (almost) one-year club!

    1. A new journal is such a fun feeling – congrats! And thank you for the welcome to the club… I’m almost there and that feels a bit surreal!
