Mandolin Quilt | 3 out of 20

In 2018 I started a handsewing project that makes me squeal every time I see it. The design is called The Mandolin Quilt and I purchased all of the required paper templates from the quilt designer. Along with some luscious Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabric, I quickly stitched together these two blocks:

And then stopped – I felt guilty working on this while knowing that my Scrumptious Hexies quilt was incomplete. But now that it’s pieced and is waiting its turn to be basted and quilted, I can return to this project with a clean conscience!

I ordered a bundle of Liberty fabrics from Duckadilly and got to work. I cut out the shapes, basted, and handsewed this pretty little block over the last couple of weeks:

It could use a quick press, but it’s done! I especially love the bright pink squeezed between the gray and yellow florals. The quilt pattern calls for 20 blocks and my hope is to finish at least one a month. Of course, I will keep you all up to date with my progress!
