A Look Into Our Notebooks – Week 51 of 2020

As the final full week of 2020 begins, I’m looking back at the week that just ended. I like taking this time to see how I’m using my time and how it aligns with my goals and values. Keeping this notebook has been a great practice for me because, as I check in with my notebook every few hours to document what I’ve been doing, I’m reminded how quickly time passes. It keeps me focused on how I want to use my time.

Today’s entry is not as detailed as I’ve been lately. I think many of us are probably overloaded during the holiday season and I hope you understand that my blogging time this morning will have to be a bit shorter than usual.

Materials used: Travelers Notebook weekly insert | pastel highlighters | Pilot g-tec-c .25 Hyper Fine Point pens

First things first: my journal entry this morning was day 260 of my streak (writing time is highlighted in green). I’m probably much more shocked about that than you are, so I won’t spend a lot of time boring you with all of that.

I spent a lot of time reading early in the week (highlighted in pink), which was delightful. I’ve also spent a lot of time listening to audiobooks (highlighted in orange) thanks to finishing up two fairly long audios and starting another long one yesterday. I used to feel overwhelmed by long audiobooks and now I welcome them – it’s almost like settling down with good friends and allowing myself to get totally swept away by the story.

I spent a lot of time stitching last week (yellow = stitching; a lot of the orange highlights also include stitching time, given that it’s possible to multitask). I picked up my hexies quilt again and spent evenings with my newest project, Scrappy Swoon. I can’t wait to show you my progress on Wednesday.

That’s all from me this morning. I’m planning to be back on Wednesday with my reading and stitching updates. If you’ve recently written a post about your own notebooks, please leave a comment with the link. I love the inspiration and encouragement. Cheers!

  1. The last have of December always seems to have less hours in each day or perhaps it is that the lists contain more things than there is time for! I am eager to see your new quilt progress on Wednesday!

  2. Wow! Is it really week 51 already! Where has this year gone while we’ve been isolated. I’m ready to start the new year, I tell ya. Hubby brought home my Christmas last night… though I know the ‘what’, I haven’t seen the finished piece, yet. I’m excitedly waiting for that. this year, I’ve been taking a literal/virtual journey with my Gr. Gram who walked the trail of tears. I did travel part of the journey by car (not foot as she did), then pandemic forced me virtual. It’s been an enlightening experience. That said, I’ve started a new scrappy quilt… something a Gr. Gram on the “caucasian” side did during the depression and for her lifetime. Think I’ll journey with her journals in 2021. That said, I think I’ve found something to do with my planner/notebook. 🙂 Thanks for all the inspiration! ❤ Hope you have a very Merry Christmas… and an awesome start to the New Year!

    1. It’s amazing that you’ve been able to follow your family’s journey on the Trail of Tears – what a moving experience! I’m without words.

And scrappy quilts are the absolute best! I can’t wait to follow your progress 🙂 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too!!

  3. Yay for multi-tasking with an audiobook! I was able to knit and listen to A Christmas Carol today and it was delightful. Looking forward to seeing more of your Scrappy Swoon tomorrow … and to starting two fresh inserts in my own journal next week.
