Bookish Delights

Today I’m joining Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl to share some of my bookish delights. I’m an INFP and an Enneagram Type 4, so my surroundings are very important to me. I get really excited when I find the perfect something to make my space as beautiful as I can with my limited resources. It’s taken me a long time to realize that this doesn’t make me superficial; I just enjoy beauty!

I love a leather satchel. I love any book that mentions a leather satchel. Why? I don’t know. Maybe it’s the Hermione in me – she’s always carrying one around. I had this one on my wishlist and my husband got it for me for Christmas and it’s perfect. The shape is gorgeous, it’s roomy enough for my laptop and notebooks, and I love the strap that lets you carry it like a messenger bag. This is the killer leather satchel that I’ve been looking for!

I bought this diffuser in 2017 and use it nearly every day. It’s still going strong! I turn it on early in the morning when I sit down to journal and leave it on until I crawl into bed. The water reservoir seems small, but it lasts all day. I love its tulip-like shape, its glossy wood-grain finish, and the gentle light that it gives off. My favorite oil combination is orange and clove.

Notebook covers are such a rabbit hole! Especially for something that’s not really necessary but so luxurious. Here’s my post on my notebooks with links to their covers. And since writing that post, I’ve ordered yet another!

I love a bookish phone case. I was nervous about ordering this one because it seemed so cheap and flimsy. But I bought it in July and it seems to be holding up well! Isn’t it cute? I’d love to figure out how to tie my hear up in a bun like that, but I’m not talented with hair!

Book darts are one of the best inventions ever. I don’t own many books but firmly believe that if I’m going to stake a claim on a book and own it, then it should be full of book darts.

(totally not my house!)

Reading lamps have been a big change for me. I have one on my desk and one by my bed and they’ve both made a difference in my reading and blogging life! I love the soft light they give off and they’re just enough to keep me from straining my eyes. We’re all aging and have to take care of what we’ve got!

My tea cozy has been wonderfully helpful lately. I drink a ton of coffee early in the morning and find myself looking for something a little less strong as the day wears on. Of course, tea is the answer! I love brewing a pot, wrapping it in this little cozy, and coming back to wonderful cups of tea all afternoon long.

The New Arrivals shelf at the library has changed my reading game. Walking into the library and perusing that shelf has become one of my favorite things in the whole world. They’re not even all recent publications — only what the library has recently acquired. Yet I love seeing what’s new. It might be a fear of missing out, but it’s so comforting to know that I go to the library and visit that shelf often enough that not much will slip by me.

Index cards have made a huge resurgence in my life. I’ve noticed that my librarian writes down every book that she’s going to order on an index card and uses this format. So when I request a book, I prepare the card for her because I’m a giant nerd. I also keep a card tucked into whatever book I’m reading so that I can jot down quotes or thoughts that I have.

And of course, bloggers are a huge bookish delight for me! I get so excited when I find another kindred spirit. I’ve finally found a little rhythm that lets me read other people’s blogs and comment on them, which has been so much fun! I find so many great ideas and good books from all of the inspiration that you provide me, so thank you!

So tell me, what’s your favorite bookish delight right now?

    1. I love my book darts 🙂 And I’m a huge lover of spreadsheets too! But I find it to be much easier to jot down quotes and thoughts on a note card tucked into my book than firing up my computer so that I can type them out!

  1. I can definitely appreciate a good satchel (preferably already well broken in) and a good notebook. Over the past year or so, though, I’ve really come to appreciate ebooks. If you’d asked me years ago, I never would have predicted it — I would have said that nothing is as good as the feeling of a physical book in my hands. I still enjoy that, but I’ve also come to enjoy the freedom I get with an ebook to read wherever I am, to make notes and highlights without marking up a physical book (especially useful for library books), and to read much more without having an impact on my budget (because nearly all the ebooks I read are freebies through Amazon or library borrows).

    1. Ebooks are amazing in so many ways and I love how quickly libraries embraced the technology. Almost everything I read is from the library – both physical copies and ebooks. I’m glad you found something that worked for you!

  2. Nice list! I LOVE your phone cover. So totally cute. I’ve been looking for a fun bookish one and haven’t been able to find one. I also adore leather satchels. They’re seriously the best. Mine is too big for everyday use, but I use it every time I travel and especially when I go to any kind of conference. I love that it looks great and holds all kinds of stuff!

    Happy TTT!
