What I’m Reading Now

Hello friends (and welcome to new readers)!

This is a sticky post that stays at the top of my blog.  I wanted an easy way for people to find what I’m reading now.  My aim is to update this as much as I can.  And as always, you can find my full list of read books for the year here.

I’m also linking up with The Modern Mrs. Darcy’s March Quick Lit post.  I love Anne Bogel, her blog, and her podcast, and this is the first time I’m linking up with her!

Currently Reading:

Barkskins: A Novel by Annie Proulx – I’m reading this because it’s a nominee for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction this year and has been on my TBR since it was published!  I’ve been hesitant to pick this up because of its heft, but I am really enjoying it so far.  Think of cold Canada winters, logging, and old school French culture.  These are rugged people making their way in a new world – it’s fabulous!

Jane Eyre (Penguin Classics) by Charlotte Bronte – I read this on my own in high school and feel like I missed a lot of the big themes and ideas that Charlotte was trying to show me.  I’m on a mission to slooowly read the classics and it only made sense to pick this one up again.  I’m enjoying it, but not spending as much time with it as I would like!

I recently read Wuthering Heights, and was disappointed.  The only character that I liked was Nelly, the maid.  If you’re interested in more of my thoughts, this link will take you to my extended post.  I’m hoping rereading this will be more inspirational than Emily’s book.  So far, I have reasons to be optimistic!
