This week I started reading The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (a pen name for JK Rowling). I wasn’t sure how I’d like Rowling outside of the Harry Potter series, but I picked this up because I was seeing it recommended everywhere. I am so glad that I did.
The series centers around a private detective, Cormoran Strike, who’s life is falling apart around him. The Cuckoo’s Calling starts with a request from the sibling of an old friend to investigate the death of their adopted sister – a socialite model who is believed to have committed suicide, but the family isn’t so sure.
I am only about 100 pages into this, so I don’t know much more than that. However, the writing is so rich and descriptive that I feel as though I’m in London in a rundown little office with these characters. And it’s funny – laugh out loud funny. It feels so good to have found a fiction novel that I am enjoying… if you haven’t read it but have been considering it – then BUY IT!!
I really have enjoyed all three of these books in the series so far. (The second one was the weakest in my opinion – but still good.) I love the characters of Cormoran and Robin, and can’t WAIT to see what happens in the fourth!

I had no idea there was going to be a fourth! I better read harder, then. And I’m happy to hear that Robin sticks around – I like her!
